It's been cold and crisp here the last few days. Frost on everything and even the lakes freezing over in the fields behind. And you know what... I love it - crisp light, crisp shadows, crisp underfoot. Better pop to the pub for some crisps!

Excuse the grainy photo - it was very low light to say the least! This is a view south from the Stiperstones in the Mynds of south Shropshire - an area that is like a mini Snowdonia, but less explored. Well worth the trip off from the A49 to explore.

The orchards of Herefordshire have burgeoned this year, which means a good year for cider (hopefully). This crop is heading for the press at Dunkerton's Cider Mill near Pemberton. A fantastic little cidery producing an amazing range from all local apples - well worth the visit.

Anyone who lives on Vancouver island has the joy of experiencing views like this every time they get the ferry across from Vancouver. Having lived there a while I hate to admit that to some degree you get used to it. It's only now, looking back that I really appreciate it once again.

In this part of Herefordshire the 'Black and White Trail' takes tourists around some of the most picturesque old villages in the country. This is Weobly, just down the road, and I'm sure it looked pretty much like this a couple of hundred years ago too!

Following on from revisiting some of my landscape shots from last year - here is a little taste of what Yoho National park has to offer on the BC Alberta border in Canada. Quite simply the most amazing place I have visited - bar none. One question for the 'community' though - is this shot better in colour or mono, I can't decide.

We've just had some friends visit with us from Canada (you know who you are!), and we've loved showing them some of the more out-of-the-way places around where we are now living. There's nothing like having guests to make you see your world afresh.

This is a shot of Llanthony Priory, just north of Abergavenny, nestled in the first valley of the Brecon Beacons park. If this wasn't magical enough in its own right, there's a pub in the basement. How cool is that!?
